Sifu William Lam is a certified Choy Li Fut. and Tai Chi Instructor. Sifu Lam has been training under Grandmaster Doc Fai Wong for about twenty years. Grandmaster Wong has tested and officially certified Lam as a "Sifu" within the Plum Blossom Choy Li Fut & Tai Chi Federation. Sifu Lam is continuously training with Grandmaster Wong at the San Francisco School.
Sifu Lam's martial arts background includes Hung Ga Kung Fu, Tae Kwon Do,Kempo Karate, Jeet Kune Do, Muay Thai, Ju Ji Tsu, Aikido, Eagle Claw Kung Fu, and lastly Choy Li Fut and Tai Chi Chuan. Lam has found that Choy Li Fut and Tai Chi are his favorite styles. Choy Li Fut's techniques are simple but they are powerful and effective. Tai Chi Chuan's profound forms and exercises are extremely beneficial to both health and martial skill.
Sifu Lam has been a Deputy Sheriff with the Alameda County Sheriff's Department for 15 years. His current assignment is in the patrol division. He has a teaching credential from Chabot - Las Positas Community College to teach weaponless defense and baton training. Sifu Lam was a defensive tactic training officer / instructor for the sheriff's recruits and sheriff's deputies for ten years(1992 to 2002) at the Regional Training Center in the city of Dublin, California.
Choy Li Fut Kung Fu
Choy Li Fut Kung Fu is one of the most
complete and effective styles for
health and self-defense.The system is highly effective when
fighting multiple opponents. This style emphasizes relaxed,
internal power rather than stiff, muscular force. This allows the
system to be more effective and gives a smaller person a greater
advantage. It is also better for the kung fu practitioner's
health.
Choy Li Fut's forms are circular, powerful, and as
beautiful to watch as they are effective in combat. These forms
often contain over 150 individual movements. Each movement in the
form has a practical application in self-defense.
When the form is done at full speed it provides an excellent
cardiovascular workout.
Unlike many other martial arts which are limited
in nature, Choy Li Fut contains a wide variety of techniques. These
techniques include long and short range punches, devastating
kicks, deadly sweeps, takedowns, lethal pressure point attacks,
joint locks, and grappling. It
provides a solution for every self defense situation
The Choy Li Fut system also teaches weapons forms
that use a large arsenal of thirty-six traditional kung fu
weapons. These weapons are divided into four categories. These
categories are long, short, twin, and flexible categories. Choy Li
Fut Kung Fu also incorporates internal training
such as meditation ,breathing and relaxation exercises.

Tai Chi
Tai Chi Chuan is an ancient Chinese Martial Art .Tai Chi Chuan is well known for its superior health benefits and high level of effectiveness in combat. Tai Chi forms are performed in a slow and relaxed manner. This is intended to calm the mind and release the mental and physical tensions of our modern stressful lifestyle. As a martial art,Tai Chi Chuan uses the theory of "four ounces of strength against a ton of force." It uses the opponents energy to repel the opponent without resorting to using force against force.
